Congratulations to LaQuisha Jackson from Howard High School for being named the Varsity Team Sports High School Athlete of the Week for the week of May 8, 2010.

The Howard track star broke a nine year old record in the 100-meter and 200-meter last week at the Best of Preps track meet.  She was also the anchor on the 4×100-meter relay team that broke a thirteen year old record.

Congratulations to Lacye Walker from Grace Baptist Academy for being named the Varsity Team Sports High School Athlete of the Week for the week of May 1, 2010.

On the mound, the Golden Eagle softball star notched four wins including a 1-hitter.  Over those four games she struck out thirty-seven of the opposing batters. At the plate she was just as dominant going 11-for-16 (.688) with three doubles, one triple, a home run, and 8 runs batted in.

Congratulations to Chandler Brooks from Lookout Valley High School for being named the Varsity Team Sports High School Athlete of the Week for the week of April 24, 2010.

The Yellow Jacket softball star had nine hits in twelve at bats (.750) including a home run, two doubles and eleven runs batted in. She also got a pitching win while striking out twelve batters.

Congratulations to Keenan Hale of McCallie for being named the Varsity Team Sports High School Athlete of the Week for the week of April 10, 2010.

The Blue Tornado track star competed in 4 events that were going on at the same time. In less than 30 mins he did the high jump, literally ran to the 110 meter hurdles finishing second, then ran to be the anchor leg of the 4 X 100 relay team which finished third, ran to make only one attempt at the triple jump – usually three attempts are given – finished 4th, then went back to finish the high jump clearing 6’2″ finishing first. He achieved all of this in less than thirty minutes helping McCallie win the Optimist Meet at Walker Valley by 137.5 to 64 over Tyner.
